　　As Chinese fans go potty for the BBC&aposs Sherlock, it emerges that they have some rather endearing nicknames for its two stars.

　　It is no secret that BBC drama Sherlock and its star Benedict Cumberbatch are enormously popular in the world’s most populous country.

　　But what is perhaps less well known is the nicknames Chinese fans have given the two stars of the hit drama: Curly Fu and Peanut.

　　但不少人并不知道，中国粉丝给这部热门英剧的两位主角起了昵称：卷福和花生。

　　Cumberbatch&aposs Sherlock is known as Curly Fu – Curly because of the coils of locks he sports for the role and Fu which is a shortening of Holmes in Chinese.

　　康伯巴奇饰演的夏洛克被称为“卷福”——“卷”字取自他在角色中一绺绺的卷发造型，“福”字是Holmes(“福尔摩斯”)中译名的缩写。

　　Freeman, who plays John Watson, is called Peanut for the rather more mundane reason that the actor&aposs name in its Chinese form – Hua Sheng – sounds a lot like the Mandarin for the nut.
