  American actress Natalie Portman is signed up as the face of the iconic Dior perfume.

  &aposBlack Swan&apos star Natalie Portman has landed a new leading role as the &aposface&apos of Miss Dior Cherie fragrance.

  Christian Dior Parfums revealed they had signed up Portman - who has never lent her face to a cosmetics or fragrance campaign until now - back in June, but details of her role remained a secret until last night.

  The actress emerged from a transparent screen of roses in front of gathered journalists to mark her &aposposter girl&apos debut for Christian Dior. The logistics of the collaboration are already well under way, with renowned fashion photographer Tim Walker having shot Portman for the print adverts, and &aposSomewhere&apos director Sophia Coppola directing the TV commercial.

  WWD reported that Parfums Christian Dior chi Claude Martinez called Portman "charismatic and elegant."

  She joins fellow Dior &apospin-ups&apos Charlize Theron, who appears bathed in gold for the &aposJ&aposadore&apos Dior perfume, and Sharon Stone, who fronts the skincare campaign.

  Last night Portman then joined Christian Dior creative director John Galliano at opening of the of the newly renovated flagship boutique. She wore a black and nude lace dress by Christian Dior and lit the up the fa�ade of the new store.

  Galliano donned an exuberant leopard-print coat and a black top-hat to welcome A-list guests including actresses Liv Tyler and Amy Adams, as well as models Dree Hemmingway, Karlie Kloss and Karolina Kurkova to the celebration at the rurbished store on Manhattan&aposs 57th Street.

  Bernard Arnault, the chi of the LVMH group which owns Christian Dior, and the Dior president and Chi Executive Officer Sidney Toledano, flew over from France to see the 5,000 square foot store which was closed for five months while the renovations took place.
