We have about 15 minutes [b]to discuss your application. [b][b]Me: Thank you. Firstly, I’d like to know what your concerns are about my [b]application. [b][b]AO: Ok. Let’s see. In terms of your academics, the committee saw that you [b]are very strong there, and with your GMAT score was very strong as well. So [b]there were no concerns academically. [b][b]In terms of your work experience, I should mention that the average [b]applicant had about 6 year work experience. And your work experience was [b]probably a little bit lighter, not quite strong as others in that apply. [b][b]In terms of your essays, let’s see, the committee thought that you had [b]some pretty solid essays. Your first essay was very solid, and your second [b]essay was probably on the average what we saw. Your third and fourth essays [b]were very good as well. [b][b]I know your fifth essay talked about your undergraduate grade. You maybe [b]not be quite as your 2.8, but the committee thought that was fine. They [b]understood the explanation was as good as well. Your recommendations were [b]good. [b][b]It looks that the main area where you were a little bit short was your work [b]experience. That was all the committee talked about. [b][b]Me: Thank you. Then my second question is that what’s the biggest weakness [b]of my application? [b][b]AO: Oh, let me see… (Turning pages) It looks like probably in terms of [b]committee not thinking you had quite enough experience yet. In terms of [b]what we saw in the rest applicant pool, was good, but not quite as strong [b]as others who in terms of how different activities that they responsible [b]for. For example, others’ stronger experience maybe managed a lot of [b]people, or ran teams, or managed a lot of projects. Maybe the way they [b]talked about it in their essays came across a little bit stronger. [b][b]Me: Do you think that the work experience is the biggest weakness of me? [b][b]AO: Yes! But that your work experience is not to say that is bad at all, it [b]just was not as strong as others’ in the pool. [b][b]Me: Do you think that if I have another year or two year experience in my [b]company, things will be better? [b][b]AO: Yes. [b][b]Me: Thank you. You know I really like Wharton program, and I plan to [b]reapply next year, do you have any suggestions for me to improve my [b]application? [b][b]AO: I think that as long as if you get one or two more years experience to [b]make sure you include in your essays that you talk about the added [b]experience, that will help you improve your application. There is one other [b]issue that I didn’t mention but I do would mention to you is that you [b]applied in the third round as well. The third round was probably the [b]toughest round of all the three rounds we have, as most comparative. [b][b]Me: Yes. You mean that if I have another two more year experience, I can be [b]more sure? [b][b]AO: You know that maybe not even two, maybe just even one. [b][b]Me: Yes, I see. Do think that there are some problems in my essays? [b][b]AO: Not any big problems at all. They were very solid. [b][b]Me: In your eyes, how about my teamwork and leadership skills that are [b]expressed in my application? [b][b]AO: Let’s see. I am looking at the notes of committee here, but there were [b]no notes here. No negative notes at all, so there were nothing negative, [b]but the committee didn’t write at whole positive stuff either. So it looks [b]to be on average what we have. Ok, I think we have another minute. [b][b]Me: Ok. Do you have any other suggestions that you can give me, please? [b][b]AO: No, I think that’s all the notes, that’s all the committee talked [b]about, so there is no other suggestions that I can give. All right? So good [b]luck! [b][b]Me: Oh, so time is over?
