Wilbraham & Monson Academy
Introduction
Picture a New England boarding school in a small suburban town with brick buildings, lots of lovely foliage, and athletic fields. WMA may seem to fit this prep school stereotype, but is much more than that. What sets our school apart from the rest is our diverse student body, bringing life to the brick buildings where students reside, eat, study, and socialize. Walk into any one of our dorms, and you will hear laughter and excited conversation. Enter an academic building and you will witness education that goes beyond lecturing and note taking. From dances and Winter Olympics to celebrations and flag football, here at WMA we know how to bring life to a bunch of historic brick buildings. The Academy has had an international student body for over 150 years. Complimenting this rich history is our Center for Entrepreneurial & Global Studies (CEGS) which teaches students the importance of becoming world citizens in the face of increasing globalization, mounting social inequities, and threats to environmental sustainability. To support our focus on global economic issues, WMA now offers a stock trading center, which simulates live trading of commercial instruments (such as stocks and bonds) in both domestic and international markets. We are the only high school in the United States nd perhaps the world o have such a facility. Between CEGS, the trading center, and our rigorous academic curriculum offering 18 AP courses, our students learn how to apply theories to real-world experience.
