Recommendation Letter

　　Dear Sir or Madam:

　　I am a professor of Textile Institute, China Textile University. My former student, Mr. Timothy Chai asked me to write a recommendation letter in support of his application for admission to the Department of Materials Engineering at your university. In my capacity as his supervisor of graduation design, I consider it a great pleasure to write the letter for him.

　　His diligence, desirable habit and correct method of study as well as his craving for knowledge ensure his top position in the class ever since his admission. Thanks to his agreeable personality, which is characterized by active attitude in communication, Mr. Timothy Chai cooperates with others with ease, and gets along with everyone in the project. He exhibits an awareness of cooperation while studying and doing experiments, and always accomplishes the work together with his teammates. Moreover, he learns how to cooperate better in other social work and activities in which he participates.

　　I supervised Mr. Timothy Chai doing his graduation design in the final semester. During this period of time lasting more than half a year, I gained a better understanding of Mr. Chai. The project for graduation design was "Warp Knitting Fabric Reinforced Flexible Composite". Since our university had just started the research on this kind of compound materials, much work had to be done from scratch, and experiments had to be carried out in poor conditions. As a result, Mr. Chai came across a number of difficulties. However, he always managed to come up with designs that adapted to the available facilities and achieve satisfactory results. He demonstrated an impressive ability to analyze and solve problems during the project, which was rare among the undergraduates I have ever taught. After solving one problem after another with his creative work, Mr. Chai finally completed his graduation thesis with great success.

　　During the four years of undergraduate studies, Mr. Timothy Chai distinguished himself from his fellow graduates by his outstanding school record. When I learn that he is looking forward to pursuing his study abroad, I am very pleased to recommend him as I have a close understanding of his academic abilities. I‘m fully convinced that Mr. Chai has acquired the caliber to do further research in the field of textiles and textile structural composite in particular.
