Transcript: Transcripts. As of fall 2013, students are required to upload unofficial transcripts in support of their web application, final, official copies will be required of admitted applicants. Personal Statement: Personal Statement. Applicants should submit a statement of no more than one page outlining their general academic interests and their reasons for applying to McGill. Applicants with well defined research interests should identify possible supervisors in the department. Recommendation Letter: Letters of Recommendation. Applicants are required to ask at least two instructors familiar with their work to send letters of recommendation. Applicants must provide the names and email addresses of referees using the McGill on-line application. McGill will contact these referees and invite them to upload references on their behalf. Research Proposal : Research Proposal (optional). Applicants may also submit specific proposal for their thesis research. The research proposal should be no more than one page in length. Applicants are NOT required to submit a research proposal, as most graduate students only decide on a specific research topic after one year of study in the department.
