All American institutions of higher education require TOEFL scores from foreign applicants. 　　 The TOEFL has four sections which test your skill level in the areas of writing, reading, listening and speaking. The entire test takes approximately three and a half hours to complete. Some testing centers offer a paper test and others offer an internet-based test. Finding out in advance which one you’ll be taking can help relieve your stress level by knowing what to expect. 　　 There are no limits to the number of times you can take the TOEFL. Some TOEFL test-takers schedule multiple tests the same week and submit the best score to their schools.
