  Statement of Academic Purpose

  Please write a statement of your current academic and future career plans as they relate to the Princeton department to which you are applying. In doing so, please cite relevant academic, professional, and personal experiences that motivate you to apply for a graduate degree here. Your statement should not exceed 1,000 words and must be written in English. Be sure to include your full name, date of birth, and department on each page of your document that you will upload with your electronic application.

  We are interested in learning more about you and how you work, think, and act. For each essay, please provide a bri overview of the situation followed by a detailed description of your response. Please limit the experiences you discuss to those which have occurred in the past three years.

  In each of the essays please describe in detail what you thought, felt, said, and did.

  Essay 1: Please describe a situation when you demonstrated initiative and took action without waiting for direction. (300 words or fewer, limited to one page)

  Essay 2: Please describe a project where you worked with others who disagreed with your ideas. What did you do? (300 words or fewer, limited to one page)

  Supplemental Essay (Optional): You may use this essay to address whatever else you want the Admissions Committee to know. (300 words or fewer, limited to one page)

  Essays

  Please provide a statement of purpose that describes your decision to pursue the Olin MBA or specialized master&aposs degree for which you are applying. Your response should include a thoughtful presentation of the personal and professional experiences that have led to your decision to pursue graduate management education. It should also provide an identification of your specific short- and long-term career objectives, an explanation of your decision to pursue this degree at this point in your life, a description of your specific interest in the Olin Business School, and any other information that would help inform the Admissions Committee of your qualifications for our program. (500 – 1,000 words)

  Optional Essay: Please provide any additional information not previously addressed in other areas of the application that you feel would be helpful to the Admissions Committee in its assessment of your candidacy. (300 word maximum)

  Explain your short-term and long-term career plans as specifically as possible. When combined with your studies at Owen, how will your background, previous experiences, interests and personal attributes enable you to pursue these goals successfully? *

  Each essay response should be limited to one double-spaced page in length.

  Required – Essay 1

  Describe your motivation for pursuing your chosen degree. How does it fit with your long/short-term goals? How have your academic, career, or life experiences prepared you for this program? What strengths will you bring, and what knowledge and insights are you hoping to develop during this learning experience?

  Required – Essay 2

  For your second essay, please answer one of the four essay questions shown below. You may choose any of these questions; please be sure to indicate at the top of the response which question you are answering.

  • Describe a major academic or professional accomplishment in your career and the factors that contributed to your success.

  • Describe a situation where your academic or professional ethics were challenged and how you dealt with the situation. What did you learn from the experience?

  • What is the most difficult feedback you have received, and how did you address it?

  • Throughout our lives, we experience significant experiences or "milestones" that have a lasting impact on us. Brily describe such an event and its impact on you.

  Applicants are not required to submit a third essay. The optional essay provides you the opportunity to share any additional information you would like the Admissions Committee to consider. If you are requesting to be considered for the MBA Health Scholars program, please use the optional third essay to explain your interest and qualifications for the program. Other topics may include special academic forts, interests or accomplishments, or any difficulties you have encountered that should be known to ensure a fair evaluation of your application.

  The LEHIGH MS/PhD program application essay should provide a summary of your career objectives and relevant work experience with rerence to the chosen field of graduate study, and the leadership experience and skills you will bring to your peer group. This is your opportunity to set yourself apart from the other applicants…in your own words. The essay should be downloaded in the online application. Paper copies are not accepted.

  What are your specific post-graduate short-term and long-term goals? How will a graduate degree from the Robert H. Smith School of Business assist you in achieving your goals? Finally, please discuss your personal and professional motivations for pursuing a graduate degree. Please limit your response to 2 pages, double-spaced.

  Discuss your long and short term career goals, how these goals developed, and what you hope to gain from graduate study at Krannert. Limit your responses to no more than 500 words.

  Describe a situation in which you had to work with a diverse group of people (those with backgrounds or opinions different from your own) to accomplish something. What conflicts arose and how did you resolve these conflicts? What did you learn about yourself and accomplishing work as a group that you can bring to Krannert? Limit your response to no more than 500 words.

  Describe a major obstacle you have faced in your professional, academic, or personal life. How did you overcome this obstacle? How did this experience foster your personal and professional development? Limit your response to no more than 500 words.

  The Master of Science in Financial Economics requires two essays.

  Essay 1 In 250-500 words please describe your educational goals and those academic and/or professional achievements which have contributed most to your development.

  Essay 2 In 250-500 words please indicate your expected career track (examples include, but are not limited to, consulting, banking, asset management, research and modeling, risk management, etc.) and describe how the Master of Science in Financial Economics will help you attain your career goals. Please be specific.
