2017年的全球最国家化大学排行榜的主要评分参考方法与2017年的相似，但是榜单中的院校排名却有着很大的差异，首先我们先来了解一下排名的主要参考因素：
Teaching (the learning environment)
Research (volume, income and reputation)
Citations (research influence)
International outlook (staff, students, research)
Industry income (knowledge transfer)
上面就是排名主要参考的5想因素，除此之外，泰晤士高等教育今年还增加了1项大学国际声誉的得分，占比25%，体现了大学在国内外的学术声誉、以及最好的教学和研究领域。
在本次发布的排行榜中，英国、瑞士、新加坡、澳大利亚等国家的大学都名列前茅，而留学生选择最多的美国高校在此次排行榜中，名次并不理想。全球各地的高等教育院校国际化程度越来越高，全球的经济和发展机构也促进了该国高校的国际科研合作等等，大学的国际化程度也能够相应提高学校的全球声誉，当然高校在全球范围内的招生、学术招聘和国际资金方面也会更具吸引力，
