She began as a teacher of languages in a variety of Sydney schools. In addition she has taught in France as an exchange teacher of English. She also has experience working with Curriculum Directorate to assist in the introduction of the new HSC and was both a writer and Senior Marker of the HSC for many years. Throughout her career Jacqueline has been actively involved in many different projects across all aspects of school life and has contributed to professional associations and professional development of teachers at regional and state levels. One of the highlights of her career has been helping to set up a new high school, as the Deputy Principal.
Jacqueline has been the Principal of Concord High School for the past six years. Concord High has a long tradition of enrolling International Students and has strong structures in place to support students both academically and socially. She has previously visited both China and Vietnam with the International Schools Unit to participate in promotional activities, training sessions for agents and parent interviews.
Leadership vision/belis
Jacqueline is committed to providing the highest possible quality in public education. This includes consistently promoting expectations of excellence, integrity and respect, encouraging a holistic, rounded approach to educating the child and supporting quality teaching by ongoing professional learning for staff.
She is currently working to increase the provision and productive use of technology in her school to enable students to operate with ease and integrity in the rapidly changing world of the 21st century.
She believes that in today’s society a heavy responsibility rests with schools to develop positive values in students and to encourage them to achieve their potential in whatever field they choose to pursue.
Lesson Outline
I will be delivering a sample English lesson, such as would be experienced by a Year 11 ESL class. It will address the theme of Belonging, which is part of the prescribed syllabus for students in English. The lesson will aim to highlight some of the features of teaching in NSW, including the use of interactive technology, a collaborative approach, synthesizing knowledge and the development of creative thinking. It will also include an emphasis on teaching strategies for English for Second Language learners.
