Assistant/Associate Professor of Tick-borne Diseases

The Department of Diagnostic Medicine/Pathobiology, College of Veterinary Medicine, at Kansas State University invites applications for a 12-month, tenure-track Tick-borne Diseases position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. This position will be part of the new center in development, Center of Excellence for Vector-Borne Diseases (CEVBD). We seek a faculty colleague who will pursue a vigorous independent and collaborative research program, focused on a tick-borne disease with an 80% research, a 15% teaching and 5% non-directed service appointment. Individuals should have evidence of research productivity and a strong potential to obtain or already have extramural funding in any area of bacterial tick-borne diseases, such as ehrlichiosis, anaplasmosis, rickettsiosis and borreliosis. The highest consideration will be given to candidates who also possess a strong background in host, tick, and pathogen interactions in disciplines of cellular and molecular biology with investigations that are potentially synergistic with the current College of Veterinary Medicine faculty interests. The successful candidate will establish or maintain an extramurally funded research program, teach graduate courses in the department, and contribute to the non-directed service.

Applicants must (a) possess a PhD or DVM and PhD in the area of tick-borne disease microbiology or in a related discipline; (b) demonstrate potential for teaching excellence in graduate level courses; (c) demonstrate potential in acquiring or have currently active extramural funding to support an active research program.
