一. 社会工作的定义

社会工作是一种以助人为宗旨、运用各种专业知识、技能和方法去解决社会问题的专门职业，是确保现代社会和谐稳定的重要制度。社会工作是社会发展的产物，在不同的国家由于文化传统、社会制度和社会发展水平的差异有不同的发展。大体来说，社会工作是以特定的文化传统与社会制度为背景，以特定社会福利制度和社会政策为依托，为有需要的人们提供的专门服务。

澳大利亚社会工作者协会AASW(the Australian Association of Social Workers)对Social Work 的定义是：

The social work profession promotes social change, problem solving in human relations and the empowerment and libration of people to enhance wellbeing. Utilising theories of human behavior and social systems, social work intervenes at the points where people interact with their environments. Principles of human rights and social justice are fundamental to social work.

二.学生的申请背景要求

学生想要申请这个专业的硕士，需要本科学习相关的课程如，社会学，心理学，政治学，社会科学，哲学，国际关系学，法律，护理，教育等。同时像墨尔本大学会要求学生有至少40个小时且持续3个月的社会工作经验;提供一篇500字的个人陈述;一篇推荐信。对于没有专业背景的学生有相关的在社会工作的工作经验也是有机会申请的。如澳国立大学，就要求学生要有至少3年的相关工作经验。

三. 社会工作专业的就业发展

五. 社会工作评估标准

5.1 本科学历要求：

Bachelor of Social Work Degree

To be eligible for the membership of the AASW with a bachelor of social work degree, graduates in an accredited social work degree program must have completed one of the following:

Four years of full-time bachelor degree level study (at AQF 7 or 8) or it s part-time equivalent, which leads to the award of a distinct qualification in social work. To be considered AQF Council secretariat acvises that the four years must include embedded honors.

Two years of a full-time bachelor degree level study or it s part-time equivalent, which leads to the award of a distinct qualification in social work, after the completion of two or three years of an undergraduate degree that contained at least one year of full-time studies in social sciences (studies of the individual and society).

4年全日制(或等同的非全日制 )社会工作专业学士学位

或完成了相关专业学士学位后获得的两年全日制(或等同的非全日制 )社会工作专业硕士学位

或三年社会工作专业学士学位加毕业后一年全职社会工作经验

5.2 硕士学历要求：

Master of Social Work Degree

To be eligible for the membership of the AASW with a qualifying master of social work degree, graduates in an accredited social work degree program must have completed two years of a full-time master degree level study (AQF 9) or it s part-time equivalent, which lead to a distinct qualification in social work, after the prior completion of a relevant three-year degree which includes the equivalent of at least one year of full-time studies in social sciences (studies of the individual and society)

5.3 AASW评估的语言要求

IELTS Requirements

All applicants providing evidence under this criterion must comply with the following standards

1.The overall band score of the Academic IELTS must be at least 7.0

2. A score of at least 7.0 must be achieved in each component (listening, reading, writing and speaking) of the Academic IELTS

3. The results from each component must be obtained in one sitting. The pass results in a module from a previous attempt cannot be forward to a subsequent sitting (suitable evidence-original or certified copy of your ACADEMIC IELTS test report form).

IELTS test reports are valid for two years from the date of completing the test. The AASW may accept a test report older than two years under the following conditions.

AASW评估英语要求A类雅思四个7，单项不能低于7

如果是下列任一一种情况可以不提供雅思成绩：

1. 小学和中学教育是全英授课且在澳大利亚，加拿大，新西兰，爱尔兰，英国或美国完成;

2. 或完成了等同上述国家学士学位或更高学历的不低于3年的全日制英语教学课程

3. 或在上述国家以英语为主要交流语言从事合格的社会工作不低于3年
