From childhood, literature has been part of my life. And Emily Dickinson first introduced me to Mount Holyoke College. When years later, the idea of studying aboard emerged in my mind and I started to search for colleges in the US, the name of Mount Holyoke appeared to me again.

When browsing the web-site of MHC for the first time, I started to understand why and how Emily Dickinson became such an extraordinary poet: it was mainly because MHC s beli that women can and should make a difference in the world . What made me resolved to apply for MHC was one post from a current MHC student I once read on a forum. She mentioned one incident that the first day she met her academic advisor, she said to her, I am afraid to learn physics because as a girl, it seems a bit difficult for me to get involved in physics . However, her advisor simply raised her eyebrow and repied, Women can do anything.

Indeed, there are still many people believe that boys perform better in science and sports, and that boys are more likely to become leaders. However, I ve been striving to show my objection. When I was in the track varsity in elementary school, I insisted to do the same amount of exercises as boys did. And when practicing on the track, I asked my coach to allow me to compete with boys. When later entering the high school, I was selected as one of the twenty girls in the best accelerated science class. And in 10th grades, I set up a new literary magazine which has been thriving till today. I proved my belis through all my honors and accomplishments.

Yes, women can do anything. When I read those words, I felt the jubilant resonance in my heart and believed this MHC is just the place I want to go.

Reading about the Ten Brilliant Reasons to Choose Mount Holyoke , I was impressed by all of those successful women---from the CEO to the chemist and to the playwright---each of whom believes she can make a difference in the world. For me, setting up an international media company has long been my dream. Though my family and friends said it would be very difficult and nearly impossible, I will still dream for it and go for it, and just as Mary Lyon, the founder of MHC, said and did--- go where no one else will .

I wish one day I shall embrace to be embraced by the community of MHC; I wish to study, to live and to perceive the world with all the intelligent and aspired girls who dare to dream and strive for their dreams just like me.
