Hello, my name is Russell Terry, I am an Instructor from the United States who focuses mainly on the Speaking section of the IELTS and TOEFL.  I have enjoyed working with students to help turn their dreams into reality.  I fully understand their desire to study abroad, because many years ago I was in the same situation and had the wonderful opportunity to live and study in a foreign country.  
The foremost important criteria to successfully training a test taker is to establish rapport and gain their confidence.  This is done by taking the time to understand their background, motivation and future goals.  Most candidates will spend over 100 hours in the classroom preparing for the exam.  Tapping into their motivation is the best way to get them to learn and perform at their highest level.  Unmotivated students are less likely to benefit from their classroom experience and more likely to re-take the exam multiple times.
Additionally, having a personalized strategy is the key to maximizing performance.  Exams are scored in four different categories.  It is important to understand the scoring system and how it relates to the candidates strengths and weaknesses.  For example, there is more than one way to achieve a 7 on the IELTS speaking.  A student who does not necessarily have the best pronunciation can still get a 7 by effectively highlighting their strong points.  Many candidates retake the exam several times because they don’t understand the grading system and therefore do not know how to answer the questions.  As a student in school, most tests are based on knowledge of facts and details, what makes the speaking and writing sections unique is that there are no right or wrong answers nor are the details very important. Because of the complexity of the grading system, it is important students get proper training and have an effective strategy for answering the questions.
All in all, I wouldn’t want anyone to miss out on future opportunities that await them once they achieve their target score.   Too many candidates get caught in a cycle of retaking the exam multiple times while using the same ineffective study methods.  I am here to help them understand how to achieve their target score, so that their test taking experience is pleasant and successful.
